Hunter x Hunter Voice Comparison 1999 v 2011

ANIME SEIYUUS ARE SO BEAST!!!!!!!!!

I can’t thank the hunter x hunter 2011 directors, producers, seiyuus and staff for doings such an amazing job remaking the hunter x hunter series.

I remember having mixed feelings about the new character voices (because I loved the 1999 version), but listening to the voice comparison gave me chills! The voices of Gon, Killua, Kurapika and Leorio are almost frighteningly similar, ESPECIALLY Killua and Kurapika (like waaaaaahht). The staff worked their butts off to find matching voices and the seiyuus flawlessly performed by maintaining each characters personality traits and form of speech.

So, while I’ve been watching HxH (2011) on Crunchyroll, I’ve noticed that a lot of people are commenting that the 2011 version is better than the original.

I think the original is better.

The 2011 version seems very fast paced and done a bit lightheartedly. There’s some nice detail missing in…

idk, i had mixed feelings. i liked Hisoka in the original - his voice and sometimes he was pretty comedic, but the new Hisoka is just - he’s less funny and more scary, but he has a bigger impact in my opinion.

same with Gon. in the 1999 ver, i feel like his character was dampened a little. he was leaning towards the generic shounen character, but the new one is a little crazy and unique.

same with Killua. his character was different. he was more (i don’t even know how to explain this) it’s like he was there to be saved by Gon. now he’s cunning and crazy.

i could go on. but i guess, the 1999 ver was really good(i liked the extra bits - like the storm) but the characters in the 2011 just have a more powerful presence (and that’s what i care most about)

TL;DR: IN THE END THEY JUST MADE ALL THE CHARACTERS MAD IN THE  2011 VER. IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, THEY’RE ALL CRAZY. ALL OF THEM.

EDIT: i realized i didn’t even answer the question. i like the 2011 version better, just because i like crazy people.

Great thoughts! Thanks for answering my question too!

I agree with your view point on the difference in character presence (and shall we say, development?). The crazy-ness is fantastic.

Hisoka was a definite surprise! I agree with your opinions about him, but I really like him in the 2011 version. Honestly, his voice is pretty sexy.

My feelings about the 2011 version has changed and now I definitely love it! Gahh, but I do miss the 1999 version comedic moments. Well, I appreciate that the anime story line is following the manga series though!! I get so hyped seeing the original manga story line come to life as an animation (of course with great characters)!
